
Stewart M. McGough is a partner at Scolaro, Fetter, Grizanti, McGough & King, P.C. and Chairman of its Employee Benefits Practice Group. His practice concentrates in the areas of employee benefits, employee plan fiduciary representation, and estate and tax planning for professional and closely held businesses. Stewart provides services in succession planning, acquisitions and dispositions, entity structuring and contract negotiation. He has provided expert witness services in several pension-related litigation matters. He has also served as special pension co-counsel in various matters, including the bankruptcy filing of Agway, Inc.
Stewart was admitted to both the State of New York Bar and the Florida Bar in 1980. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for Northern New York. He works closely with private and not-for-profit clients in such diverse businesses as professional practices; domestic and international manufacturers; insurance agencies; real estate development companies; wholesale and retail establishments; and banks and financial service companies.
Stewart has contributed articles to various business and professional journals and is also a frequent lecturer to local, regional and national professional and civic groups in the areas of pension and estate planning. On the national level, he has presented programs on ERISA and tax issues for pension and welfare plans at the Association of Advanced Life Underwriters, the International Forum, the Million Dollar Round Table and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
